Tip 10: Stevie Wonder – That’s What Christmas Means To Me

Christmas means many things to many people. For most of us though it can provide some personal time to recover, recharge and rethink.

One of the key things you should be considering perhaps is what your business means to you? Is it simply a means to generate money to enable you to do things outside of the business that you want to do? Is it an all-consuming passion that you would probably indulge in regardless of whether you made money or not?

We suspect for most of us it is a mixture of the two. Good businesses combine passion with commerciality. Too much emphasis on the money side could mean you are losing opportunities through being unwilling to take risks or provide customers with the right level of value. Too little emphasis might at best mean insufficient resources to develop your business or at worse no business at all. A good Finance Director can steer the best course between the two and provide the right kind of strategic financial management to suit your business.

2012 is shaping up to be a challenging year. Yes it will probably remain tough but for well managed businesses with great people who know their market and customers and keep tight control of their finances there will continue to be opportunities. It is vital that you stay alive to these however gloomy the headlines might be.

Whatever Christmas means to you we wish you all an enjoyable festive period. Whatever business means to you, we wish you a happy and successful New Year, and we look forward to working with you to develop financially strong businesses in 2012.
